Avoid Drawing Computers At All Costs!
Editorial Illustration on Monday. The assignment title: "Big Mother," the topic: parental scanning of their teens' whereabouts and prevention of their downfall via bad moral stuff like drugs and underage sex through the use of technology and tracking devices. There was definitely a feeling of control going on throughout the article, especially when it ends in stating how the parents could be going into overkill. Makes a great and imaginative piece. Not too difficult to come up with things fast and creative. My sketches feel a bit cliched, a bit miscommunicated in some respects, but overall, I'm having a lot more fun than the last assignment. (porbably cuz I'm gonna try out a new style, etc. using gouche? and ink. MMMMM, ink.
Oh yeah, and we had some awesome guest speakers too: Jillian Tamaki (www.jilliantamaki.com) and Sam Weber (www.sampaints.com) Check em out y'all... and Yuko Shimizu (www.yukoart.com) cuz she's the bomb. Lucky SVA schmucks, they have all the fun...
This one won out over my series of sketches. Duh. Alien mommas always rule. And so does contrast.
This was a favorite, but the concept lacks.
